OUR DIVISIONS

ELEMENTAL PROGRAM
(Ages 10-16)
The curriculum program for this group is especially designed to include the elements of musicianship, keyboard and sight-singing skills, basic Belcanto voice technique, music history and more, but the repertoire will be based in song literature for young voices and musical theater appropriate for the age. Those interested in this division will also be given an initial audition and consultation so that we may place them in the appropriate level. Please inquire for more information.

PRINCIPAL PROGRAM
(Ages 17 and beyond)
This program is for the study the classical vocal repertoire. Based on an initial audition and consultation, artists are given an outline for the projected development of their voice work and then placed into a level to begin in our graduated curriculum. Here they will be introduced to the principles of the EDT model and their specific level studies. As the artist advances through the system, they are given more complex and layered technical, musical, linguistic, and interpretive exercises. The exams to move forward in level will be scheduled as the artist’s readiness allows, as timing and development is individual.

WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL
We are proud to be
ITALIAN BELCANTO SINGING
We are proud to be the creators of the first structured sequential method of vocal training in the Italian Belcanto singing tradition. Our goal is to contribute to the world of the performing arts with exceptional and unique individuals, that through their voices and talent are not only highly adept at their craft, but consummate, extraordinary artists.
Drawing from the legendary classical voice tradition of Belcanto, and past and living vocal masters, it is an exclusive and groundbreaking approach. The integration of Belcanto technique with ancient breathing practices and concentration exercises helps artists to expand their potential, and witness tangible self-growth of their artistic persona.
Through the understanding of the individual temperament, with the assistance of cognitive behavioral techniques, we help to strengthen them and directly impact their vocal development, building performers of discipline and character.
When you learn to sing with Belcanto technique, you open the instrument to its most opulent, gaining comprehensive control and a true and unique vocal identity. The temperament and timbre of the artist is the fingerprint of their particular instrument. This identity is drawn from within, not invented, and fully developed in the care of our institution. We focus on understanding and attending the whole person- every lesson, every breath, every note.
We have curated an institution that is centralized on the voice craft. We are profoundly passionate about technique and about how that technique gives you the ability to be wholly surrendered to the words you sing, and the words that your character sings through you. We are committed to the legacy that was bequeathed to us by great masters, teachers and colleagues; and are grateful to have the charge to carry the endowment to those that must inherit it.
HOW TO ENROLL
Based on an initial audition and consultation, artists are given an outline for the projected development of their voice work and then placed into a level to begin in our graduated curriculum. Here they will be introduced to the principles of the EDT model and their specific level studies. As the artist advances through the system, they are given more complex and layered technical, musical, linguistic, and interpretive exercises. The exams to move forward in level will be scheduled as the artist’s readiness allows, as timing and development is individual.
Our two divisions:
Elemental Program - (Ages 10-16) |
Principal Program - (Ages 17 and beyond) |
The Technical Principles of the Studio De Trejo model are:
Respiration | Inspiration and Expiration |
Corporal Awareness | Cognitive Focus |
Appoggio/Air Pressure Management | |
Artist Mind | Creative Expressive Energy |
Resonance Management | How to direct the shape of the vocal instrument from inspiration to onset, and through the register passages, optimizing the acoustical capacity for ultimate control of the sound. |

OUR APPROACH
Elasticity, Determination, and Talent.

Elasticity
The ability to curate your vocal art with plasticity. Resilient, yet fluid, it is imperative, in the use of the voice as an instrument, to obtain a technique that gives you the ability to be malleable. You always want to be able to move with inspiration and deftness, and to not be restrained by technical shortcomings, vocal and corporal tensions, and emotional hindrances.

Determination
and Discipline give way to the complete freedom of the artist mind and the creative flow. In order to achieve the Elasticity, you have to have a determined spirit and the willingness to stay focused on the work. Doing the work and building a technique is exactly how you gain control of the body and build a structure that produces the same result each time you sing, giving you the ability to trust yourself deeply, so that you may take the exciting and necessary risk in the journey of artistic expression.

Talent
Talent is the facility, the natural possession of a gift for singing and for creating art with your voice and is a prerequisite, but Talent can be much more than just aptitude.
Where will you allow it to lead you?
What will you discover and how far will you bring your gift?
