WE FOCUS ON UNDERSTANDING AND
ATTENDING THE WHOLE PERSON- EVERY LESSON,
EVERY BREATH, EVERY NOTE.
The curriculum program for this group is especially designed to include the elements of musicianship, keyboard and sight-singing skills, basic Belcanto voice technique, music history and more, but the repertoire will be based in song literature for young voices and musical theater appropriate for the age. Those interested in this division will also be given an initial audition and consultation so that we may place them in the appropriate level. Please inquire for more information.
WHY IS OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATER IMPORTANT TO LEARN ABOUT?
Did you know that Opera is the culmination of every other art form?! It requires all the elements of music, dance, art, and storytelling and combines them into one powerful package! Opera connects students to our world's history and the great composers of the past. It is so important for young musicians to understand where their favorite music today comes from and how styles and genres have evolved over time because in order to take music to new places and create new sounds, we have to know where we’ve been and all that is possible with what has already been created! Let’s march forward!
HOW DOES E-LEARNING WORK WITH MUSIC?
The transition to virtual learning definitely had a steep learning curve, but I have become quite the professional at conquering it! So much wonderful learning has come through teaching music in the virtual space. My classroom has now come alive in student homes and I've enjoyed interacting with whole families singing and dancing along with the lessons. I can't wait to make music with you!
I am a performer at heart but absolutely love teaching music to young minds and watching them grow. From a young age I knew that music was my passion, and after earning a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Simpson College in 2017 and a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2019, I began my career as a music teacher. I have taught general music education in public schools throughout New York City and the Bronx, both in the classroom and online.
My teaching style is upbeat and fun! I think it is so important to keep students engaged with exciting new content each class. My lessons include singing, ukulele, music history, world music, musical theater, opera, acting, and music theory. I have been collaborating with The International School of Voice to create an unforgettable learning experience for our next generation of musicians!
